The Great Commission
Matthew 28:19 (NLT — 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
The Prophecy of the Gospel to All Nations
Matthew 24:14 (NLT — 14 And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come. Romans 10:14–15 (NLT) — 14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? 15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”
The order of missional success:
Burden > Send > Go > Speak > Salvation
Missional Success
1. Hearts that are BURDENED
- A burden is something you carry on your mind, on your heart, continually.
- Where does a burden come from?
- A burden comes through prayer.
- A burden comes from the Holy Spirit.
- A burden is the burden of God.
- Burden always becomes movement. Pray until God puts a face, a name, a nation on your heart — and then act.
2. Churches that SEND
- God is a sending God.
- He sent His Son.
- His Son sent His Spirit.
- His Spirit sent the Church.
- The Church needs to send people.
- It happens in the heart of a corporate body.
3. People that GO
- This is what takes a corporate mission and makes it personal.
- Who is willing to GO?
- The SACRIFICE in going.
- Leave your business.
- Leave your home.
- Leave your family .
- Foxes have holes, birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.
- The PLACE we’re going
- Romans 15:20–21 (NLT) — 20 My ambition has always been to preach the Good News where the name of Christ has never been heard, rather than where a church has already been started by someone else. 21 I have been following the plan spoken of in the Scriptures, where it says, “Those who have never been told about him will see, and those who have never heard of him will understand.”
- 10/40 window:
- 5.3 billion live in this window.
- 3.5 billion are unreached.
- 83% of all unreached people live in this window.
- 80% of the world’s poorest people live in this window.
- 3% of missionaries work in the window.
- 2% of missions dollars go to the window.
4. Mouths that SPEAK
- What it means to preach:
- It means to testify, it means to share your testimony.
- It means to preach Jesus as the savior and answer to your life.
- The goal of preaching
- People believing in Jesus.
- People calling on the name of the Lord.
- People becoming disciples of Christ.
- Trusting God with the results because not all will believe.
Romans 10:8–11 (NLT) — 8 In fact, it says, “The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart.” And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: 9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. 11 As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.”
